MIRIK EXHIBITION

Kursaong, March 14
The Fifth Agricultural
cum Industrial Exhibition
at Krishna Nagar, Hirik
was opened by Sri N.B.
Qurung, Dy. Minister,
Labour, on 7th inst. A
large number of people
attended the opening cere-
mony.

Vandal of Mirik Blook
and Sri R. C. Tamang
spoke on behalf of the
Exhibition Committee and
the local people.

presidential speech appre-
ciated the efforts of the
people of that area in
general and the members
of Exeoutive Committee
in particular for the suc-
cessful holding of the
exhibition every year.
He also explained that

SPORTS AT
GITDUBLING

Kalimpong, March 12
The Second Annual
Sports sponsored by the
Gitdubling Tribal Welfare
Centre was held at Gitdub-
ling today. Shri D. N. Sen,
Khasmahal Officer presi 'ed
over the function & distri-
buted the prizes. Shri
C. B. Kumai, Block Deve-
lopment Officer Kalimpong
N.E.S. Block II, Shri M. R.
Rai Sub.divisional Publicity
Officer & Shri R. N. Bose,
Co-operative Inspector were
also present.

Besides the-Govt. Grant
of Rsi loo/- the local
people had contributed their
mite to make the sports
a; success. About 1,500
persons from the neigh-
bouring Khasmahal Blocks
witnessed the. sports with
great enthusiasm.' Folk
Songs & Dances presented
by the school children were
highly appreciated by ail.
A drama was also staged
in. the evening by some
local youths.
