LQNDOW MEWS LETTER

BY B. B. RAY CHAUDHURI

( Our Loudon CorrMpondent )
London, August 13.

From all acoounts it
seema that the Indo-Pakii-
tan Canal Waters dispute
ha* some ohanue of auo-
oess this time. The lea-
der of the Indian delega-
tion, Mr. Gulati, told me
that he ij very optimiatio,
ao is Mr Iliffe of the
World Bank. As regards
the finanoing of the pro-
ject, I understand the
Canadian, British, Austra-
lian and West "German
• Government are very much
interested.

Though there is a
thaw in the Cold War in
view of the forthcoming
diplomatic tourism bet-
ween U S.A. and U.S8.R.,
there are some signs of
discontent amongbt the
Western partners of the
U.S A Neither Bonn nor
Paris are Aery pleated
at the latest moves of
the Soviet and American
leaders. Superficially, of
course, the French and
German Governments issu-
ed statements welcoming
the Eisenhower-Khrush-
chev meeting, but the
influential France and
German newspapers are
openly raaenting "the ex-
General from America and

the ex-peasant from Rus-
sia" trying to aolve the
Kuropean problems in
general and the Berlin
question in particular.
They are lamenting the
past glorious days of
European supremacy.

, I have just learnt
from authoritative sources
that there is no possibi-
lity in the near future
of Ghana deolaring a
Republic within the Com-
monwealth. ! he present
status of Ghana will re.
m*in for at least three
years.

after thirty years, of

written by Judge Kennedy
in 1924 and 1928 Every
lawyer and student will
weloome the publication
of the third edition as
much has happened in
thirty years and in oon-'
sequence the book has
been very largely re-writ-
ten. Merohant Shippers,
Insurance Broken, Im-
porters and Exporters will

all welcome this latest
edition. The other volu-
me, viz:-"1,aw & Opinion
in England in theTwbn
tmsth Century" edited
by Professor Morris Gins-
berg of the London
School of Economics, is
aa important work which
will be weloomed by all
students of Law and Poli-
tical Buience. Seventeen

sal of the most important
movements witlin con-
temporary scoiely The

as in previous years, the
geneal excellence of com-
prehensive, up-to date and

ternational irsnps Meters.
