This Rishi-Rangli High
way is one of the must
important border roads,
connecting Jelepla Pass
that leada to Tibet. Be-
sides being i n alternative
highway to Gangtok Na
thula K.»id, .this read
connects the eastern part
of Sikkim. adjoining Bhu
tan border, with West
Bengal at Pedong. It is
authoritatively learnt tflat
Rishi-Kongli rosd will be
extended opto Jelepla so
that Chinese Inroads into
Sikkim through Bhntun
border could bo sealed
positively.

Major-General Dubey
inspeoted South Sikkim
Highway and reviewed its
progress today since this
important bonier highway
will soon connect Lacheu
and Lachung villages.
These Lachen and Luchting
Areas in North ftikkini
have suddenly become
important as the Obinem
have already built up
roads across the border.

It is also reported
that the Chinese have built
up air bases in Chambad-
tong lying on the other
side of these borders.

FLARE UP OF KHAHPA
GUERRILLA WARFARE

Kathinandu, Jan. 12
Reports of a flare up
of Khampa guerrilla ac-
tivities over a wide area,
surrounded by Saka Kye-
rong Dz nig, Nyalam and
Tiugri Pzong in Tibet
have reached here through
Buddhist pilgrims who
have just arrived from
Shigatse via Tingrapara.
A big band, they have
apiared themselves out in
the Southern I ibetan ra-
tion bordering Nepal.
Chinese reinforcements
have arrived, but the
guerrillas are attacking
Chinese patrols from their
mountain hideouts and
inflicting heavy losses on
them.
