The political activities
in the District in connexion
with the coming General
election is gradually reach-
ing a climax Almost all
the parties in the District
have by this time announced
the lists of candidates for
State Assembly and Lok
Sabha seats It is very
difficult to assess the posi-
tion of the different parties
at the present moment.
So far nothing unto-
ward has happened ' but
the way things are progre-
ssing there might be some

RAIDS FROM INDIAN
SIDE DENIED
New Delhi, Jan. 10
Official circles in New
Delhi said today that the
charge levelled against
India by Nepal's Foreign
Minister, Pr. Tulsi Qiri,
that raids of police posts
in Nepal were being or-
ganized from Indian ter-
ritory was without any
foundation.
They expressed sur-
prise that auch allegations
should be made against
India when her pjlioy
had all along been to
prevent any hostile aotion
from Indian territory
against the Nepal Govern-
ment.
It was explained that
all these raids were re-
ported from eastern Tarai
area which is considered
a -"stronghold of the Nepal
Congress.
The maintenance of
law and order being an
internal matter to be tank-
led Ity the Nepal Govern-
ment itself, the reported
raids were no concern of
the Government of India,
the official eiroles said.
