NATIONAL INTEGRATION'FLEDGE

On the oooasion of
Gandhi Jay an ti,-this year,
a week long campaign was
started to collect signa-
tures for the National
Integration pledge. During
the week oitizens all over
India signed the pledge
to settle dispute relating
to religious, linguistic,
regional or any other kind
by pBaoeful means.

ori Nehru also called
on the people to sink
their petty differences
and work fur National
Integration in the face of
''threats from all sides."

As last year Kalini.
pong did not observe
Gandhi Jayanti except for
a prabhat phari early in
the morning Nor any
initiative was taken to
collect signatures for the
National pledge. Since
no other active political
p'-rty is in the field the
1-md should have bee:i
takau bv the Congress
jtany. Does this mean
that the Congressmen in
Kalimpong exist only to
attend tea. parties givan
in honour of visiting
Congress Ministers. ? We
hope the Congtdss will

not forget to: observe
National functions of such
importance in future.

On the oooasion of
the National Integration
Campaign we pledge-our-
selves anew to banish
from the country provin-
cialism, communalism,
casteism and all sorts of
secterianism
