made all equal in height. There can be no
difficulty afterwards in varying that height, if
required, by adding a little to one, or taking
it off from another.

If the ground rises, as a bank or a mountain,
it may be higher than the horizon, and whatever
is upon it, or growing out of it, will rise in
a corresponding degree. And all objects of
equal sizes will appear of equal sizes when at
the same distance ; however the ground on which
they are situated may be raised above the level
of that on which the spectator is placed.
