Whether it be rumors of
war or whatever other cause,
certain it is that New York’s
art season this year is making a
very late start. However, there
has been quite a lot to see during
the past month and promise of still
better things later on. One of the
most prominent and successful ex-
hibitions was the one-man show
at the Berlin Photographic Com-
pany’s galleries on Madison Av-
enue. Mr. Martin Birnbaum col-
lected a large amount of material
on Leon Bakst, and added to his
catalogue a capital essay upon the
life work of this eminent artist, who
after capturing the esteem of Paris
