of the time, mounted on a dark grey horse, is halting at
the door of a mansion, and, with his hat off, receives a
glass of wine from the lady of the house ; at the same
time a domestic holds lais steed.
An exquisite picture. In the time of Descamps it was
in the celebrated collection of Lubbeling at Amsterdam;
in 1778, in that of M. Le Brun.
