Il est facile de voir par ce plan combien cette
habitation offre de scènes pittoresques. La variété
des plantations, la quantité d'eau, la sinuation
naturelle du lac et des bras de rivière, l'inégalité
du sol, le nombre des monumens, doivent égale-
ment contribuer à rendre ce séjour enchanteur; ce-
pendant l'artiste observateur ne peut s'empêcher de
reconnoitre et de dire i.° que la communication de
l'entrée principale au bâtiment d'habitation n'est
pas assez indiquée; 2.° que la scène qui entoure ce
bâtiment est trop resserrée; 3.° que les allées sont
en général tourmentées dans leurs contours, ce qui
amène nécessairement de fréquentes répétitions dans
la forme des masses et dans le vuide des carre-
fours.

élévations des quatre façades et la coupe du bâti-
ment de la principale habitation.
EXPLICATION.
Le rez de chaussée est composé d'un porche, d'un
vestibule communiquant à droite au salon, à gau-
che à l'escalier, à la suite duquel se trouve une cui-
sine et ses dépendances.
Le premier étage se compose i.° d'un apparte-
ment de maître consistant en une chambre à cou-
cher avec dépendances et un cabinet de travail;

It is easy to perceive by this plan, how many pic-
turesque scenes this residence affords; the variety of
the plantations, the quantity of water, the form of
the lake, the sinuosity of the branches of the river,
the inequality of the soil, the number of the monu-
ments must all contribute to render this abode de-
lightful; however the observing artist cannot help
remarking and saying i.° that the communication of
the principal entrance with the dwelling-house is not
sufficiently indicated; 2." that the scene surrounding
this building is too much confined ; 3.° that the wind-
ings of the walks are too much laboured, which neces-
sarily produces frequent repetitions in the different
masses, and the squares of the cross-walks.
