THE TEMPLE OF CONCORD.

This temple, dedicated by Camillus to the goddess Concord, was
destroyed in the conflagration of the Capital ; it was rebuilt, by Tiberius
and the senate, from the materials of many other edifices, which had
shared in the common ruin.
These pillars, which have withstood the attack of time, formed the
portico ; they are of oriental granite, and of the Ionic order.
