TEMPLE OF JUPITER STATOR.

The three Corinthian pillars, which yet remain of this immortal
monument, are highly esteemed by artists; they are regarded as the
most perfect models of their kind.
The temple of Jupiter Stator was consecrated to Romulus, after his
victory over the Sabines.
Near the small fountain which is seen in the plate was the Curtain
lake, famous for the heroic act of the young Roman who there devoted
himself to death.
