Letter from Mr. F. L. NORDEN
To MARTIN FOLKES, Esq.
SIR,
IH AVE the honour to address to you the Remarks annexed, which I have
made, during my late expedition, on the Pyratnidographia of Mr. Greaves.
They are written without any ornament, and even without the ailistance
°* my designs, which I had sent away before I embarked. I have not taken
Notice os his measures, which I find for the rnost part exact; and in those
P'aces, where he is mistaken, it is occasioned solely by his aiming at greater
exactness than was possible. In general, I consider him as an author of merit;
3nd what I have written on his Pyramidographia^ rather tends to add than to
diminim. Besides, I have applied mysels only to those things, that I re-
collected perfectly well; and have passed over in silence those, concerning
^hich I had the least doubt, and wherein it would have been necessary for me to
consult my papers. As you, Sir, are an excellent judge in these matters, I give
^P my Remarks entirely to your judgment; entreating you only to believe, that
