County Council. In the
recent exhibition there was
perhaps nothing which
gave evidence of actual
genius or even of a very
high degree of talent, but,
on the other hand, most
of the objects in each de-
partment were workmanlike
and technically capable.
Seldom in a show of the
productions of young
craftsmen have there been
so few things which are
the outcome of misdirected
energy or false taste. This
happy result is largely due
to the guidance of able
teachers who are practical
rather than merely profes-
sorial. Too often the
School of Art is ruled by
a man who has become
weary in his craft, and is
by no means inclined
either to make or to en-
courage new experiments.

Mr. George Frampton and
