I liked particularly some of the woodcuts,
and venture to think this side of our art
will find appreciation across the Alps. S.B.
The Italian art magazine “ Arte Pura
e Decorativa,” Via Ciovasso, 4, Milan,
is inaugurating an international com-
petition of designs for linoleum, offering
prizes of 5.000, 3,000 and 1,000 lire for
the best three, and further prizes amounting
to 4,000 lire. Designs must reach the
above address not later than the end of

HOLLAND. — Among Dutch archi-
tects Mr. Kropholler occupies a
firmly established position by reason of
his strong personal vision and the courage
and imaginative breadth of his composi-
tions. The church interior which we
reproduce illustrates these qualities in a
marked degree. One admires the scale
and proportions of his design and the
skilful distribution of interest. The
dramatic focussing of light in the chancel
is arresting and emotionally impressive. 0
Miss Frida Holleman, of Leyden, though
but fifteen years of age, has already won
praise from well-known Dutch artists.
It is to be hoped that the early promise
her drawings hold out will be fulfilled. 0
