buildings and interiors. In Vienna his decora-
tive work has been mostly in connection with
private houses, and he has arranged some
of the exhibitions at the “ Hagenbund,” of
which he is a member.

Baron Krauss studied under Friedrich Schmidt
and joined the modern movement long after he
began to practise as an architect and decorator.
He is one of the leading designers of Austria,
and is responsible for many beautiful houses
and public buildings in Vienna. Of the latter
the most important is the Burger Theatre.
Outside the city he has also been active, and
many of his villas may be seen in various parts
of Austria. The dining room shown here was
executed in satin-wood. A design for a parlour

was reproduced in colour in the Summer
Number of The Studio, 1906, devoted to The Art
Revival in Austria (C26), while several of his
designs were illustrated in The Studio Year
Book, 1908.

Mr. Lancaster is a designer of metal-work and
furniture and has given particular attention to
interior decoration. He also executes decora-
tive illustrations for the Press. Examples of
his designs appeared in The Studio Year Books
for 1907 and 1908.
