MACARTNEY, Mervyn E., B.A.,
F.S.A., F.R.I.B.A., 55 Lincoln s Inn Fields,
London.
Mr. Macartney, who designed the mahogany
sideboard executed by Messrs. Morris & Co.
and reproduced opposite, is the official surveyor
to the fabric of St. Paul’s Cathedral, and a
well-known architect. He is a member of
the Council of the Royal Society of British
Architects.
MILLAR, Cecil, 150 Brompton Road,
South Kensington, London.
Mr. Millar is a designer of interiors, furniture,
and almost every article necessary for the
filling-up of a house. He has been
particularly successful in the design-
ing of fabrics, most of which have
been carried out for Messrs. Storey
and Co., of Kensington. Several
illustrations of his designs have ap-
peared in the three previous issues
of The Studio Year Book.
MITCHELL, J. Edgar, 14
St. Mary's Place,Newcastle-on-Tyne.
Mr. Mitchell is a designer of furni-
ture, leaded glass and mural decor-
ation,and in addition he designs and
executes stencils, decorative paint-
ings and gesso work. His recent
commissions include a staircase

window for the Corporation Art Gallery at
Newcastle ; decoration and wall paintings for
the children’s dining room on the SS. “ Maure-
tania ” ; heraldic windows for the hall and
staircase at Milburn House, Newcastle ; and
decoration and leaded glass for the hall in the
Durham Educational Offices.

NICOLAI, M. A., Dresden—Mugeln.
Herr Nicolai has successfully effected a com-
plete reform in the wicker industry, and has
made innumerable designs for furniture, flower-
tables, baskets, &c., which have been adopted
by various German and Austrian firms. Illus-
trations of his work in this direction appeared
