TRANSLUCENT ENAMEL ON COPPER DESIGNED
AND EXECUTED BY ERNESTINE MILLS

some beautiful examples of cups, fruitstands,
jewelry, &c. His designs are invariably good
and display marked individuality, while the
workmanship is beyond reproach. He is par-
ticularly happy in selecting the materials
employed, so that they may adapt themselves
to the form and 1o the scheme of decoration.
The cup illustrated on page 154 is in the pos-
session of the Grand Duke of Hesse, in whose
ateliers he works. It is executed in white
nephrite mounted in silver-gilt and set with
red and green tourmalines. The pendant and
chain on the same page are in gold set with
rose tourmalines, while the ewer and dish are
executed in brass with the cross-pieces in silver.
Several other examples of Professor Riegel’s

PHILPOTT, Miss Rosamond, Mary-
gold. Bindery, Tenison Avenue, Cambridge.
Miss Philpott is associated with the Marygold
Bindery, Cambridge, where she follows every
branch of the bookbinder’s craft.
Her excellent workmanship maybe
seen in the two examples illustrated
on page 153. Both the bindings
are executed in undyed morocco,
blind tooled. Her work has been
exhibited in London, Cambridge,
Oxford, Leamington, Frankfort
(where she was awarded a diplo-
ma), Weimar and Berlin. She
received a gold star for the whole
of her exhibit at Cambridge, and
a diploma of merit at the Oxford
Arts and Crafts Exhibition.
