also some localities with normal-sized plots
and earthen baulks, as e.g. Ilmandu I (see be-
low).
The Celtic fields of Proosa are located 1 km
west of the Saha-Loo fields and cover a sur-
face of 10 ha today (Fig. 1.4 and Fig. 8). This
complex consists of rectangular field plots
surrounded merely by low stone baulks (only
4 probable clearance cairns are registered).
The surfaces of the field plots vary between
195 and 695 sq.m, being on average 390 sq.m.
The baulks are quite uniform and do not con-
tain visible and initially separate cairns as the
baulks of Saha-Loo did. The whole lay-out of
the Proosa fields also looks much more regu-
lar than that of Saha-Loo. A trench excavated
in 1993 in one of the baulks (Fig. 9) yielded
some charcoal which was radiocarbon dated
to 2400 +60BP (ST-13879). Some potsherds
