Ces fortes de meubles font encore de nos jours extrêmement
communs dans la vallée du Rhin : c'est le type le plus répandu
que nous avons choifi, fauf à donner plus tard des échantillons
plus purs. Les bois employés pour le travail de marqueterie font
'ebene, l'érable, le frêne, le chêne (moulures), le châtaignier,
•a ronce d'orme, plaqués sur panneaux de fapin ; la fculpture fur
tilleul. Nous donnons le détail de trois chiffres différents de la
date 1664 que porte la frife. Profondeur de l'armoire o"',58. —

This kind of furniture is, Hill to-day, very common in the
Valley of the Rhine ; we have chofen the moft vulgär of thefe
models, but we fhall give in a fhort time purer samples. The
différent woods ufed for checkerwork are ebony-wood, maple-
wood, afh-wood, oak-wood (mouldings), cheftnut-wood, elm-
brambles plated on panels of fir-wood. The line-tree is chiefly
for fculpture. We give the particulars on the three différent
ciphers of the date 1664, which can be feen on the frieze.
Depth of the armoriai bearing o'", 5 8 ; reduced to the tenth of
