in Poznań). The latter drawing was an element of the frontispiccc of volume 2 of Atanazy Ra-
czyński^ Histoire de l'art modernę en Allentagne, publishcd in Paris in 1839, a copy of which
opened on the frontispieee, was also displayed.

The second section dealt with the castle at Zawada (Fig. 2), the faęade of which had been
composed by Schinkcl of Romańescme and Gothic elements. Since SchinkeFs original design
has not been preserved, the exhibition featured instead two drawings by Józed Richter, dating
from 1835 (National Museum in Warsaw), showing the front and back of Atanazy Raczyński's
resideucc, and five descriptions by Antoni Stachcrski, dating from circa 1860 (National Museum
in Cracow). The main accent of the display was an enlargcd photograph by Tadeusz Szydłowski,
show ing the faęade of the Zawada castle which was burnt dow-n in 1914. The section also included
a pencil portrait of Atanazy Raczyński by Wilhelm von Kaulbach (National Museum in Poznań),
and Schinkel's drawing dating from 1823, showing the faęade of the Zawada castle composed
in Romanesąue style (on loan from the ISationalgaleric in Berlin, DUR). The latter is a study
madę when the castle had already been completed. One of the main features of this section was
also a portrait of Atanazy Raczyński (National Museum iu Poznań), painted by Augustę
Re<picmont in Lisbon in 1843.

The third section was devoted to the palące at Antonin. Since no original drawings Jiavc
survived, it featured threo plales from the Sammlung architektonischer Enlwilrfe (1824) and
