A fine work of great zoological and botanical interest with numerous
plates drawn from nature and carefully coloured by band. The Ist part, con-
taining the insects of Surinam, is illustrated with 72 plates in full-page size.
The 2nd part, dealing with the insects of Europe, comprises I84 nice engravings,
4 or 3 on eadi plate. A 3rd vol. with 69 plates (unknown to Pritzel) is missing.
But the “Histoire de Oiseaux”, a Supplement, is added to the copy.
With some traces of use; vol I. a little browned; some rents repaired.
Coloured copies are of the greatest rarity.
