7 RIFLES ft AMMUNITION SEIZED
3 PERSONS ARRESTED
Kalimpong. Aug. 1
Seven unlicensed service
Rifles and about 710
rounds of ammunition were
seized from a private
oar at Tista. The oar
which was proceeding from
Kalimpong to Darjeeling
was intercepted by Sri
B. L. Qhosh, 8. D. P. 0.,
Police offioers and cone-
. tables at Tista Bridge.
The driver of the car and
two oooopants ware arrested
and brought to Kalimpong.
Several other plaoae were
searohed by polioe and
enquiry is in progress.

The ninth meeting of
the newly-oonetituted
North Bengal Flood Ad-
visory Committee, held
here yesterday, was at.
tended by Mr. I. B. Surita,
Commissioner of Presi-
dency Division, Deputy
Commiseionere of Jalpai-
guri and Darjeeling and
District Magistrates of
Couch Behar and West
Dinajpur. All the engineers
of the Flood Control and
Irrigation Departments &
Public Works Department
of the State Government
also attended. The tea
industry was represented
by Mr. B.C. Ghosh (ITPA)
and Brig F. H. 8tevena
(ITA) The representatives
of the District Boards of
the different districts also
attended. : ' .
