painted black, lies close to the head: three long locks fall on either
shoulder, and many more down the back. Eyes rx large nose,
and prominent smiling mouth. She wears a garment with
over the girdle. It is decorated down the r. side and round the lower
edge by an incised maeander pattern. Her feet are bare, her r. hand
hangs by her side, her clenched 1. is pressed against her breast. Good
work. Clay almost orange in tone.
21. VASE IN SHAPE OF COMIC MASK (pi. 76).
H. -17 m.
Crowned with ivy. The gaping mouth forms the opening of the
vase, and the outstanding ears have been transformed into handles.
Good work. On the bottom is a ring of dots, and in the centre, scratched
with a sharp tool:

22. FEMALE FIGURE (pi. 76).
H. -17 m.
She wears a transparent rVxTw, and a mantle which covers her head
and is drawn round her lower limbs. The 1. hand is at her side; the r.
holds a fold of her garment. Poor work.
23. SO-CALLED DEMETER AND ICORE WITH lACCHOS (pi. 76).
H. -14 m.
The figure to 1. (' Kore') is naked to the waist, with an
round her lower limbs; her r. hand rests on her knee, her 1. holds a
' Demeter ' wears Dh'Aw and ^2772<2/2'<?7z which covers the head and
lower limbs. On her lap she holds an infant (' Iacchos'). Very roughly
modelled. For the type see GD/A Azz^. v, where a number of similar
groups are exhibited (nos. 20, 22, &c.), and cf. Heuzey, <7%
ZP33&71?, pi. 13, no. 7.
24. FEMALE HEAD, VOTIVE (pi. 76).
H. -12 m.
Band round the hair which is parted in the middle. Head veiled
with the /%2772<2/2b72. Poor work.
25. PROTOME OF DOG (pi. 76).
H. -135 m.
Masking a water-spout. Pricked ears, rough thick hair, bell round
neck. The dog lays a paw on either side of spout, which is formed by
the mouth of a mask. The type is common (cf. no. 19).
