a funereal meal of bread and drink, thousands of loaves,
liquors, oxen, geese, linen, clotb.es, ail good and pure things,
loaves without number1, beer, spiritss, cakes of the lord of
Abydos, wbite cream (?) of the sacred cow3, on which the
Mânes ' like to feeds, for the devout unto Osiris and Anubis,

The word c ^ is derived from E , ® çl , by addition
of the formative <=> 11, so that ^ ( j ^ is man °f \, the

2. Sensé doubtful, probably from incalescere, ferccre.

3. The cow has a sun-disk, O, between the horns, in the original.

4. The sign before the ^j*> is a variant of ©, which is found often

in hieroglyphical texts of the XI-XIII"1 Dynasties. It is derived from
the hieratic form of ©.
