AN ASSHMBLAGE OF ANTONINIANI I ROM. .
-Podolia) group, which makes it possible for us to attribute Pereginka (Balakiri) 2
to the Late Roman period.
It should also be noted that Pereginka (Balakiri) 2, topographically adjacent
to the zonę of the Southern Bug headwaters, lies in a region distinguished
by an unusually high freąuency of artefacts mainly attributable to the Chemyakhiv
culture but also considered one of the main areas of its origin.25 It is here that
we find a high concentration of sites with artefacts proving that they belonged
to the early stage of the Chemyakhiv culture: Ruzhichanka,26 Chemeliv-Russkyi,27
Berezhanka,28 Lepesovka,29 Luka-Vmblevitskaya,30 and others.
Whether we consider the chronology of the early stage of the Chemyakhiy
culture - the so called “Ruzhichanka phase” - along the lines proposed by
Ye. Gorokhovskiy,31 that is, in AD 230-270 - or whether we consider the first
stage following I. Bazhan and O. Gey,32 which stage is generally synchronous
with the Cl stage of the European chronological system, that is, AD 220-260,
the antoninian assemblage from Pereginka (Balakiri) 2 might represent one of
its chronological markers.
