contrary, due to the great abundance of obsidian occurrences present in the Transcaucasus, in this
region circulation of obsidian appears to be related to geographic criteria

— to the lamented insufficient knowledge of the Anatolian sources, in most
cases specific occurrences inside the same volcanic complex were not identified.
Just in few cases the source remained unknown, such for example artefact TA 96
E 360 al of table 3. An obsidian with similar FT parameters is unknown from the
Near East.
Although significant progress has been madę on knowledge of obsidian-
bearing volcanics of Anatolia during the last decade, the present status is still
unsatisfactory as that one described by M. Ózdogan [1996]. Further intensive and
systematic search for sources is needed in this region.
