Introduction

The aim of this book is to present a few
fundamental facts about figure drawing that
will help the teacher to present the subject to
the pupil and thus give them a greater vo-
cabulary for graphic expression.

Children sense motion before proportion
and are more interested in it. It is the action
that most conveys the idea.

It is best to start with movement and grad-
ually introduce the subject of proportion as
needed, that is, when children grow critical
enough to feel the need of it.

Proportion may at first be used as a correc-
tive element, then taught more definitely.
