Niezałeżnie od tego, czy wykonywanie projektów do numizmatów gdań-
skich można umieścić w dorobku malarzy udokumentowanych - od Her-
manna Hana do Daniela Schultza - czy też dyskusyjnych, sam ich udział w tym
procesie raz jeszcze potwierdza zarówno wysoką jakość formalną miejscowego
mennictwa, o którą najwyraźniej dbały władze Gdańska, jak i wyjątkową rangę
artystyczną miasta w dawnej Rzeczypospolitej, kwestie wielokrotnie już oma-
wiane w literaturze.

On History of Art in Gdańsk and Numismatics Once Again
The paper is a continuation of a text published in 2009, in which the design of sev-
eral medals and coins issued by the city of Gdańsk was demonstrated as being provid-
ed by Hermann Han, a renowned earły 17th-century local painter. Basing on recent ar-
chival discoveries, the author now discusses several other medals struck in the Gdańsk
mint in the years 1637-1660, engraved by such well-documented artisans as Sebas-
tian Dadler, and Johann Hóhn - both Elder and Younger. The medals issued for the
royal wedding of Vladislaus IV of Poland-Lithuania and Cecilia Renata of Hapsburg
(1637) were again certainly designed by a painter, even if his name remains undefined,
whereas design for the one commemorating nuptial festivities of John II Casimir and
Ludovica Maria Gonzaga (1649) was provided by Daniel Schultz - with regard to the
obverse with monarchs portrait. The latter, a court painter of considerable ąuality and
fame, could have also designed another portrait of the king himslef, used on Gdańsk
