Some very slight differences do exist between the two drawing, such as the
somewhat dry, fussy, and over-complicated treatment of the drapery on the
female personification of Time in contrast to the cleaner, relaxed, more deci-
sive pen-strokes employed for the Astronomy allegory, which might suggest
a specific artistic intent or perhaps even the hand of a workshop assistant^),
although when taken as a whole, the style and execution of the Gdańsk draw-
ings does compare well to the few examples which are known of Schluter’s
skill as a draftsman. Until today, only one or two drawings could be attrib-
uted with any certainty to the artist and these are the architectural drawings
for the Parochial Church Tower (1703-04) and a Design for a Tower above the
Erasmus-Chapel of the Berlin Schloss (1706).60 (figs. 18-19) Yet a little-known
drawing of the Villa von Kameke in Berlin (1711), which was identified and
published, has been forwarded as another convincing example of an auto-
graph drawing by Schluter.61 (fig. 20) In this drawing, the incomparable
