the sculptural figures upon the attica successfully con-
trasts with the clean, clear linearity of the architectonic
elements resulting in a truly remarkable effect. There
has been still one more pen and ink drawing brought
to light with that characteristic inscription “A. Schluter
fee”, which was mentioned briefly above. The Minerva
and Hercules (1695-1700) has been seen as a pos-
sible design by Schluter for sculptural decoration or
wall-painting.62 (fig. 21) However, it should be pointed
out that the marked similarity in rendering of forms
(hair, musculature, and limbs) and technical execu-
tion (pen and ink-wash) found in this drawing is also
comparable to work by the Berlin court-painter Augus-
tin Terwesten the Elder (1649-1711).63 Three drawings
(dated c. 1700) coming from the extensive production
created by this prolific artist are of interest in this case.64
