In pursuance of tbe object to wliicb I bave twice ventured to call tbe attention of
European Egyptologists, I propose, witb M. Maspero's permission, to contribute to the pages
of tbe Recueil de Travaux sucb descriptive lists of Egyptian antiquities, and copies of Egyp-
tian inscriptions, as I may be able to collect from time to time in tbe course of my visits
to the provincial and private muséums of Great Britain. However onimportant some of thèse
minor collections may be wben taken singly, they will, I trust, be found valuable en masse
for purposes of comparative study; and it is witb this hope that I submit the first instal-
ment of the présent séries.

I. THE PEEL PARK MUSEUM (MANCHESTER).

This collection is not large, but it contains three funerary tablets and other objects
of interest.

I. A limestone stela, measuring 19 inches by 13 inches, madc for a 'royal relative'
named Benfit-nefer a priest 'in bis month' of the second class. The top of the

stela is rounded. In the upper part is seen the signet between two symbolic eyes; below
the signet, the hieroglyph representing water and a libation vase Y7; on either side, the
couchant jackals of Anubis witb tbe kherp and flagellum. Below this heading is engraved
a group representing Renpit-nefer j <è> rj"^ \ {^^^ \ ^[ | *n a fringed robe, his head
Burmounted by a cone, and his hands uplifted in adoration before Sokar-Osiris (hawk-headed
and crowned with the Atef), Horus ^."j"^ wearing the Pschent, and Isis crowned witb
the seat

Between Renpit-nefer and the gods stands a table of offerings heaped with

vegetables, geese, loaves and a libation-vase. Two waterjars in stands are placed under the
