X* IRST give the proposed size.
If it is to be a different scale from the original, find
what proportion the breadth in that, is to the length; as
here, the breadth is four divisions, the length two and
two-thirds of a division.
This subject would be well divided into two
masses; viz. the house, and the tree.
Note. Make dots at the proportionate divisions.
USE PROPORTION.
RULE FIRST.
The house stands half way from the middle to the left
side.
The bottom of the house is half way from the middle to
the bottom.
The stem of the tree is half way from the middle to the
right side, and half way to the bottom.
The tree extends to one half on each side the stem,
reaches to the top, and comes as low as one
half the house.
