SECTION XII.

CONCLUSION.

1JE it examined why Drawing, certainly the most per-
fect power of visible expression, except writing, and in
some cases more useful, is so generally unknown. The
usual reasons will be found in the three following:

An idea of insufficient genius ;

Want of leisure; or

Having too long delayed the study.

It is remarkable, that being so universally granted
natural and easy to understand and express Sound and
Thought, it should still be supposed so difficult, and a
peculiar talent to understand and express what is con-
stantly seen : When Sight is perhaps the most conti-
nually in use, affords the greatest information, and is in
general the most perfect of the senses.

But if it be allowed that whoever can be taught to
read, or can comprehend and remember short rules,
