Occasiofi of the difference betxveen Situation
and Appearance.

vyjBJECTS, as they appear on the Perspective Plane,
diminish in size, and approach nearer to each other by
distance. This occasions all parallels of the same situa-
tion to meet, converge, or vanish in the same point.
This vanishing point of such parallels is in infinite dis-
tance ; and towards this they regularly advance, pro-
ceeding from the observer, or from whatever place they
may be in.

As the Ground Plane is terminated by the Horizontal
Plane, all Situations, parallel with the Ground Plane,
vanish somewhere in the Horizontal Plane; but have,
agreeably to their Situations, their respective vanishing
points.

As the height of all objects diminishes by distance
into the vanishing points of their respective parallels,
two parallel Situations, describing the top and bottom
of an object, would, if continued, describe its height
quite to the vanishing point of these parallels.
