This interesting book contains several alusions to America. P. 126: „ditas

mares et lugares de nossa conquista etc.”

321 Armenian Manuscript. Tetraevangelium. Armenian illuminated
Manuscript on vellum. Dated: Ao. 944 of the armenian era — 1495
of our era. With 3 fine full-page miniatures be-
autifully coloured (with gold), 2 full-page pen-
drawings in red and in red and black, 2 small er
drawings (on 1.86 a. 154), 4 splendid ornaments
excellently coloured with grounds of gold
and initials (partly figures) in the begin of the
4 gospels and ve ry many ornament-figures in
red and blue on the margins. 10 11., 290 and 2 11. in
13 gatherings. 2 cols. Sm. folio. Original brown leather-binding
showing a punched cross within a border. fl 2400.—
A very fine quite complete armenian manuscript in
excellent condition from the end of the 15th century.
Clearly written in an usual armenian roundhand with black ink, while the begins of the
chapters and the initials are red.
The full-page miniatures, which are in good condition, are painted in red, blue,
green, violet and gold. They are as follows: 1. 92r, Christ appears to the 11 disciples
after the resurrection in Galilee (Matth. 28, 16); 1. 129, Christ’s entry in Jerusalem;
1. 157, The Nativity.
The drawings represent: 1. 79, The last day and the hell; 1. 92v, Pentecost: the
12 apostles without Maria sitting round a figur with crown and wings representing the
world, not quite finished.
L. 86 v. shows below the repentance of St. Peter (in colours); 1. 154 on the mar-
gin the meeting of Maria and Elisabeth (in red ink).
