Proctor 10825d. Fürst, Bibl. Jud. Ill, 155 (not this edition). P. Ricius, a
converted Jew and physician to Emperor Maximilian I., was an interesting personage.
His various writings provoked criticism and he was accused of propagating Judaic
and Lutheran ideas. (See Reusch, Index libr. proh. I, 273/74). — A very nicely
printed book, which is also of medical interest as it contains lengthy considerations
on Galenus. — Some old annotations in the margins, one corner repaired, otherwise
a very good, large copy.
277 SAMUEL, Rab(b)i. Quod ludaei Messiam, qui venit, ceu ven tu rum,
temere expectent. Libellus sane doctus Rabi Samuelis. (Lf. A 2 =:

Mbrochiani ad Rabbi Isaac,...) Argentorati, Joh. Hervagius, 4. nonas
lulias 1523. With fine woodcut title-border. 32 unnumb. Ivs. Sd.
f 65.—
Rabbi Samuel was baptized in 1085. He wrote the above letter in the Arabian
language to a Rabbi Isaac, in which he proved that the expected Messiah had
arrived long ago. A Dominican monk, Alphonsus, translated this work into Latin.
A nice copy with only a few underlinings and an annotation on title.
278 TORRENTINUS, Herman. Elucidarius carminum et historiarum vel
Vocabularius poeticus continens fabulas, historias, provincias, urbes,
insulas, fluvios et montes illustres. Item Vocabula... grecorum et

translatis: et aliis in fine adiunctis. Hagenau, Henricus Gran, 1510.
60 Ivs. 4to. Boards. f 50.—
Proctor 11647. Panzer VII, 75, 66. Torrentinus was a Dutch grammarian who
lived at the end of the 15th and in the 16th century. —j Small corner-piece of
first If. mended, as well as a tear in the last leaf, a few stains, otherwise a very
good, large copy.

cata. Viennae 1559. With woodcut title-border. 4 Ivs., 411 pp., 8 Ivs.
4to. Sd. f 48.—
Fürst, Bibl io th. Judaica II, p. 498. First edition. Weidner was a
Jewish physician who was baptized at Vienna in the year 1558. In the preface he
gives a description of his life and his conversion. — On the title-leaf, which is
damaged in the lower part, is a contemporary ownership entry. A few wormholes
through the first leaves, otherwise a good copy.
INCUNABULA see no. 60, 77, 81, 85, 128, 133, 146, 237, 358, 379.
