A fine work containing the portraits of many famous learned men, for example of

a.s.o. — Bound with a collection of 128 other portraits by Galle, Crispin de Passe,
Moncornet, H. Goltzius, a.s.o. showing also important personalities (Vesalius,, Ortelius,
Thomas Morus, Gemma Frisius, Pirckheimef, Matthiolus, Appian, Dante, Bocaccio,
Savonarola.) — The, work of Galle in very fine condition, the other portraits partly

Brunet V, 198. Poggendorff II, 793. Original edition. Scheuchzer
(1672—1733,) was town-physician of Zürich and member of the Royal Society of
London, to which the book is dedicated. He was one of the earliest scientific explorers
of the Alps and gives important informations on palaeontology, glaciology and
botany. One chapter (p. 49—57) treats of milk. — A very good large copy of this
interesting work. With the bookplate of the library Nordkirchen.
