Panzer IX, p. Ill no. 50. Brunet I, 810/11. Bernard, Geof. Tory
p. 98-100: “Rien n’indique où ce livre a été imprimé; mais tout me porte à croire
que c’est une contrefaçon allemande ” The opinion of Bernard is based on
various reasons. One is : “sur ce que deux des trois exemplaires connus de cette
troisième édition se trouvaient naguère da.ns le même pays.” A very nice copy of a
rare reprint of the Paris 1510 edition, with a preface by Geof roy Tory. To this
the (Strasbourg?) printer has added the Germania of Tacitus and also the Germania
of C. Celtes. Who this printer was is not known, the mark is an imitation of the
one of Marnef, but the initials E.I.G. are replaced by C.O.
