on either side; but were finally quelled by Cowis Caun, who conti-

slain by Bullul Caun the Patau, who may do now as he thinks sit, the
Young King being scarce Ten Years old. It was thought he intend-
ed to have delivered both King and Kingdom to the Mogul j but 'tis
believed as long as he can keep both for his own Ends, he will not.
He yet Salams to the King, and carries it fairly, endeavouring to Buiiai caun
win the Duccanees to a good Opinion of him, which they seem little keepstheKing
to regard, unless he would restore the Fort, City, and Royal Person ;£pS|o°m
of the King, and divert himself of his Power; ail which he holds
yet Hero-like, maugre all the Practices of his Adversaries; who
now, as he hath attained the sirss: Place in the State, we therefore
must reckon him the Chief Grandee or Prince of Dttccan, imme-
diately next the King.
Bullul Caun, General and Protector.
His Salary is 60 Lecgue of Pagods, 2,0000 Horse, 100000 Foot
out of the Kings's Demesnes annually ; besides Camels and Elephants
equipped for Battel.

Country maintains 3000 Horse and 10000 Foot, at I j Lecgue of
Pagods per Annum.
Sttnda Raja's
Pepper-Country is worth 30 L. P. but pays one half into the King's
Cofser, and now and then Seva Gi mares with him; it maintains in
good Pay 12000 Foot, arid 3000 Horse.
Samba Gi Raja, Brother to Seva Gi,
In Baligaot can raise 10000 Horse, and 20000 Foot j worth 30 L. P.
per Annum.
