Reprint of the First Edition of the author’s most celebrated work which appeared in the same
year at Nuremberg. It “embodied the soundest physical learning of his time and simultaneously repre-
sented its most advanced spirit of speculation” (Ency. Brit.) Among other important physical investi-
gations, it contains the first description of a flour-sifting machine, and mentions the sifting property of
undulating air — a fact only rediscovered and made use of within recent times by F. G. Winkler. On
p. 20 is an interesting woodcut repres. the attempt to raise a submerged ship.

The extremely rare edition of Joannes Winterburger of this astronomical treatise, dealing
with the motion of the constellations and the stars, and with the movable feasts.
