„America, quae nunc quarta pars terre dicitur, ab Americo Vespucio, eiusdem inuentore no-
men sortita est. Et non immerito quoniam mari vndique clauditur, Insula appellatur. Ptolomaeo
aut et antiquioribus propter nimiam eius distantiam incognita permansit. Inuenta quidem est anno
Christi 1497. ex mandato regis Castiliae, Propter eius quoque magnitudinem Nouus mundus appellatur.“
Fol. XLVI strengthened on inner margin, there are some large but faint stains in places and
a few notes by an old hand in margins and ownership entry on title.
Good copy the moveable pieces on various plates all quite intact.
