pus, 1530. Fol. With large figurated handsome title-bo rder, a
full-page woodcut on the last leaf by Albrecht Dürer, another
nearly full page woodcut by Hans Springinklee (signed), 77
smaller woodcuts in the text by Springinklee and Erhard Schön,
and numerous ornamental and figurated initials. Contemporary
blind stamped black calf over wooden boards (rubbed, back partly damaged).

Rare edition of the finely illustrated so-called „Peypus-Bible“. The beautiful cut by Dürer
(Dodgson I, p. 266. Friedländer, Dürer als Kupferstecher p. 125.) with the inscription SANCTA |
IVSTICIA | . 1521. | represents two angels supporting the Imperial Arms and the arms of Nurem-
berg, above this two femal allegorical figures. The fine large cut by S p r i n g i n k 1 e e (signed
H S K) shows the Nativity. (Dodgson I, p, 409, 79.) The nice cut on f. 9, the Creation of Eve, is
also by Springinklee, placed between two upright panels of Ornament (Dodgson I, 377 , 21 and 23).
The handsome titleborder, probably also by Springinklee, represents on the top the „Salvator“, on
the left and the right sides the evangelists, and beneath „Ecclesia Christiana“ and „Ecclesia Anti-
christi“.
All the cuts are in very fine impressions. The title-border is here printed for the first time.
Quite complete copy, the first leaf slightly damaged in blank margin, a few small worm-
holes in the beginning and at end. Notes of ownership on title.

Polus, 1587. 8vo. With plenty of woodc. ill. in the text with a small
border on both sides, title within a richly adorned border. Brown
calf over wooden boards, originally gilt tooled. In the centre of the front cover
a man (David?), sword in hand, in background a town; on backcover an or-
namental stamp. In the corners an angel seating on a chair. Back slightly
dam. Two metal catches, one clasp finely embossed. Gauffred gilt etches. Frs. 450.—
Very nice Buxheim Copy wiih 3 interesting owners entries by Sigism. Untius (1592), Sigism.
Hornstein (1610) and Domus Buxiae (1638). Some few underlinings and ms. entries, inkstains on
p. 2—5, otherwise in very good preservation. Splendid original binding.
