The second edition of this celebrated encyclopedia which is pre-
ceded by “De nuptiis Philologiae et Mercurii”. It is regarded as the earliest
compendium of the “Septem artes liberates” and had a very great influence on
the philosophy of the Middle Ages. The books are entitled: “De gramatica,
De dialectica, De rhetorica, De geometria, De arithmetic a, De astro-
nomia, De music a”.
A very fine and clean copy. Old name “L. Kulenkamp, 1776” and a
stamp on the title.

AN EXTREMELY SCARCE EARLY EDITION OF THE ‘DIVINA COM-
MEDIA’. This edition contains the commentary of Jacobus de Lana aug-
mented by Guido Terzagus and Martinus Paulus Nidobeatus. The
text of the poem is revised by the latter. “The Nidobeatine text has
always been held'in high repute. It was followed by Lombardi in his
edition of 1791, more closely by Portirelli in 1804—5, and was reprinted in the
Naples edition of 1828.”
THE UNIQUE BOOK OF THIS INTERESTING PRESS. “The only book
known to contain the names of these printers is the Dante, Divina commedia,
the parts of whidi were completed between 27 September, 1477, and March, 1478.
This appears to be their sole recorded production, as the type of the Expositio
Psalmorum assigned to them by Proctor (no. 5897) differs.” (Brit. Mus. Cat.)
