oak boards covered with blind stamped leather. Rebacked and repaired, some-
what wormed. 400.
A most interesting code of the statutes of Belluno, dated 1456. The proper statuta com-
prise four books, of which the last (fol. 117 v — 143 r) deals with taxes and Duties
generally and especially. The next two pages are occupied by the "statuta episcopi Bellunen-
sis", at the and of this we read:
„Expliciunt Statuta communis civitatis Belluni scripta per me Nicolaum de Perseginis con-
dam scilicet Andree. Anno domini Millisuno quadrigentesimo quinquagesimo sexto indictione
quarta di vero Veneris trigesimo Januarij et completa in ipso die deo dante et concedente".
After this some supplements in later hands follow.
Of the interesting contents we mention: De decimis (2 pp.), de nundinis (2 pp.), de fal-
sis monetis (V2 p.), de falsis mensuris (1 p.), de tabemariis tenentibus ludum (2V2 pp.), de
piscatoribus (2 pp.), de medicis (V2 p.), de emptionibus rerum mobilium (V2 p.), dacium vini
(6V2 pp.) etc.
The code now comprises 171 leaves, but according to an old foliation there are besides
some leaves at the end and the beginning eight leaves wanting. The lower or lateral margins
are cut away from 10 leaves. 17 leaves are repaired, two are somewhat stained.
Interesting code of municipal law; the statuta civitatis Bellunensis were first printed
in 1525.

Diese sehr umfangreiche Sammlung wurde 1595 zu Kopenhagen v. Giacopo Castel-
vetri, der anscheinend damals in politischer Mission am danischen Hofe weilte, angelegt.
Am Ende jedes Bandes vermerkt er genau die Blattzahl und den Preis f. d. Schreiber.
Vielleicht war die Sammlung urspriinglich zur Veroffentlichung bestimmt. Jeder Band
hat sein sauber ausgefiihrtes Titelblatt m. d. Motto: Forsan et haec olim meminisse iuvabit.
Der Inhalt ist bandweise nach Landern wie folgt geordnet: Rom — Spanien — Philosophi-
sches und Theologisches. — Conclave — Italien — England — Frankreich, Venedig u. Grie-
chenland — Italien, bes. Neapel und Sizilien. Die Berichte sind fast ausschlieBlich in italien.
Sprache abgefafit und gut lesbar geschrieben.
In Anbetracht der zu jener Zeit noch so seltenen periodischen Tagesliteratur gewinnen
die meist sehr aktuellen Berichte besonderes Interesse. Die historisch Auswertung der Samm-
lung, die viel unpublizertes Material enthalten diirfte, muB einer naheren Untersuchung vor-
behalten bleiben.
