IN KALIMP0NG

Sri S. R. Das, former
Chief Justice of India ami
at present Vice ohanoeller,
Vishwa Bharati Univer-
sity, said reoently that
Kalimpong no longer has
the old social atmosphere.
In past people here, used
to join hands in all the
functions and there was
good co-operation among
the people of this Hima-
layan town.

With the growth of
town and population things
have changed and today
we find that politios aud
group riralaries have
really spoiled the old
social life of Kalimpong.
Politics has reached every
where, whether it is field
of education, sports or
any sooial work.

We also feel that
the old atmosphere is no
longer there. Is this a
good sign ? Are we sett-
ing up a good example
for the future generation ?
Toe entire population of
Kalimpong is not to be
blamed, but only a hand-
ful of persons are res-
ponsible for this. Mo.it
of them are frustrated
politicians, who in order

to gain popularity indulge
in activities which create
differences amoogest the
people here.

Before things get worse
something should be done.
ThoBP who are in publio
life, should give a Berious
thought to this problem.
We on our part appeal
to all to forget their per-
sonal differences. Let edu-
cation & Sports be free
from politios Let all work
in co operation for a better
life and for the welfare
of this wonderful border
town. '
