SPECIAL SUMMER NUMBER OF
Cj)E Jutcniattonal «tutuo, 1902
Bound in Paper ONE VOLUME Price, $2.00 net
recent developments in the art of Etching and Engraving upon Copper plates are of
remarkable interest to all who concern themselves with artistic matters.
This fact has not been so generally realized as it deserves to be, owing, in a measure, to the modern
practice of printing limited editions of plates, sometimes not exceeding in number twenty copies,
all of which are often subscribed beforehand by enthusiastic collectors.
A new army of etchers has arisen in recent years, not only in Great Britain, but also in France,
Germany, Austria, Belgium, Holland, and other Art centres, whose productions are as individual
as they are meritorious.
Now as to this work:
The co-operation of all the leading etchers and engravers of the world has been secured, and it is
possible therefore to present to readers of the special Summer Number reproductions of the best
work of the best artists of all nationalities.
The various articles are written by acknowledged experts, and a feature of the publication is the
very large number of illustrations, including many supplemental plates in photogravure and color
facsimile. All the illustrations have been produced expressly, and are printed upon a toned paper
made for the purpose.
