ment against the truth or probability of the Fad.
For there are many times alterations tn the speak-
ing and writing of things which in themselves
are very true ; and this might be the fault of the
Transcriber. Above the Inscription are these
two Verses:

Entibi monftrofum ntmis, & memorabile fattum,
Quale nee a mundi condltione datum.
And below,
Hao lege, max ammo siugesattas, Letter, abibii.

LETTER IV.
SIR,
W/E were seven Hours on the Canal,
’ between Amsterdam and Utrecht, but we
spent the time with a' great deal of Pleasure,
as well because of the fair Weather, and the
fine Country, as of the good Company we had
in the Boat.
We left, on the Right-hand, three Leagues
from Awsierdam, the old Cattle of Abcow, with
the Village of the same name, where are the
bounds of the Province of Holland.
