Maria Sigismund III Vasa and his second wife Constance of Austria. The similarities in shape
Rdesińska between these two coffins, their proportions, the manner of execution and character of
the decoration, as well as iconographical analogies can lead to the conclusion that they
were made not only at the same place and close time, but also in the same - unknown
- pewterer s workshop. The sarcophagus of Prince Alexander Charles was linked with
the same workshop. However, besides some similarities that may be characteristic of
the items made at the same centre and time, the sarcophagus of Alexander Charles
and those of Sigismund III Vasaand Constance of Austria have also a number of dis-
similarities, which is the reason why it is difficult, if basing only on the analysis of style,
to maintain the assumption about the execution of these three sarcophagi in the same
workshop.
