The subject of the
competitive composition
was Welcome ATews, and
Mr. Meldrum's picture
stood out from the others
in its gracefulness of line,
and because of that evi-
dence of inward vision
which alone foretells the
possibilities within a man.
The mother country
keeps in close touch
with her Australian
Colonies by various
means, through com-
merce, sport, war and
art, and it will argue well
