2. The Parting of Christ from His Mother, Silesian, early XVIth
century, Warsaw, Muzeum Narodowe

After the supper, we are told, Christ went to pray. Then, Mary Magdalen on the reąuest of
Mother of God eame and asked Him to stay in Bethany during Pasch.20 The respective miniaturę
of the Dominican Meditations (fig. 8) though undoubtedly patterned after the Agony in the Garden,
depicts circumstantially all details of this episode. Mary saw Christ when He was kneeling in
the garden. And, interrupting His prayer, He turned to Her and said: What about, my friend?
And Mary Magdalen fell upon Her knees and answered: Hail, Jesus Christ...27
